Activities
The BCA is a very active cultural association with plenty of activities designed to enable English-speakers to interact and share a common language in a fun and friendly way.
On this page, you will find our regularly-scheduled activities - along with a brief description of what each activity entails. Our programme is constantly evolving with special events such as wine-tastings, excursions and Christmas Party. We also host competitions and tournaments so keep an eye on our Calendar and Special Events page to make sure that you do not miss out!
You do not need to be fluent in English to take part in our activities, although a higher level of English is required for the Performance Group and Play Reading.
OVERVIEW OF BCA WEEKLY and MONTHLY ACTIVITIES – 2025/2026
Detailed and updated information can be found on the BCA calendar posted on the HOME page and in the monthly newsletter*.
*Please note: The newsletter is sent via email to enrolled members.
Book ClubOur book club meets once a month at the MEL premises for an informal chat about literature and anything else that takes its fancy. At the beginning of the season, members choose the books to be read each month, all of which are in English, but not necessarily from anglophone countries. Past years' selections have included writers from Africa, Australia, Canada, England, Scandinavia, Turkey and the United States.

Français Pour TousFrançais Pour Tous meet-ups are all about learning or practicing French in a fun way! This is the only BCA activity conducted primarily in French, and is a chance for all of you French speakers to come and help out those who are still learning to master the language. All levels of French speakers – from beginners to natives – are welcome to come and have a friendly and helpful chat.

Learn a new game, or play an old favorite in this open and airy space. Participants must pay 1.80 euro and buy a beverage; you may bring food in from the outside.

Movie ClubA group for cinephiles. Once a month, members get together to discuss, review and deconstruct a pre-selected film with opportunities for further chats all about the world of cinema. Films range from classics to the latest theatre releases.
Performance Group
This is our theatre group: a group that meets regularly to practise acting techniques and to rehearse a play with the aim of delivering a showstopping performance at the beginning of the summer. The sessions follow the school calendar.

Poetry Reading Group
Renowned African American poet Rita Dove once said "Poetry is language at its most distilled and most powerful". We couldn't agree more. The Poetry Reading group meets once a month in the MEL premises to share their favourite poems and to listen and explore poetry thanks to members' contributions.
