A Brief History of the BCA
The British Cultural Association was formed in September 1991 to hold activities and outings in English which appealed to British families in the area as well as to teachers of English. In that period, members met monthly to participate in activities such as a boat trip on the Camargue or a trip to Navacelles. Cooking and food were also a feature during the early years, with evenings dedicated to curry, pork roast dinner and, of course, fish and chips. The night of 5th November (Guy Fawkes Night) was always popular with children as was the annual Easter Egg Hunt.
After a quiet period, the BCA went through a renaissance in the 2010s to become the BCA: an active and thriving community of English-speakers from all over the world. Today our members meet more regularly than ever before thanks to the passion and drive of those who lead activities and events.
